The end of the term is fast approaching. As with all students I have a potential, ideal reading list for this summer. Chances are I won’t complete it – I never do. But to hit a target with a bow and arrow you have to aim higher than the target itself, right?
The Bible – Marquis De Sade [/coolface.jpg]
The Iliad – Homer
The Odyssey – Homer
The Aeneid – Virgil
Barn Burning– John Steinbeck
Brave New World – Aldous Huxley
The Count of Monte Cristo – Alexandre Dumas
Robert Frost: Selected Poems – Robert Frost
Through the Looking Glass – Lewis Carroll
Moby Dick – Herman Melville
Heart of Darkness – Joseph Conrad
The Ministry of Fear – Graham Greene
Many of these classics just aren’t the same as the original languages (The Count of Monte Cristo, especially)
Excellent list if I may say so myself.
Is there a book by de Sade, that is also called “The Bible” or is it a remark to the sometimes sadist content in the Bible?
The latter, comrade. :P
For the record, De Sade was utterly, disgustingly reactionary. It’s merely a comment on the content of the Bible.
