Press, extortion, threats and deadly sabotage are among the means Israel uses to stop the new peace convoy in support of the occupied Gaza Strip. Such is the methods of the Zionist state, even before the convoy has cast off.
Last year’s convoy was that everyone remembers the attack in a command raid , in which nine unarmed activists were murdered in cold blood by Israeli commandos in international waters.
Seven Norwegians, among them a pair of white politicians, are now in Athens to join the Freedom Flotilla II together with 350 other activists from 30 nations. Another two Norwegians have been placed so that it is almost nine Norwegian activists with.
Some of those who originally should have been with have, apparently after pressure from Israel and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held at home or tried to travel to the Palestinian territories by Israel.
In a press release said the Norwegian participants:
Sabotage against our boat would either keep us from getting off, or was intended and not discovered until we were out at sea. We denounces this crime that could put human lives in unnecessary danger. Israel’s diplomatic offensive to prevent the convoy from leaving the Greek ports and threats against journalists shows that Israel is willing to use all means to stop the convoy. Israel does not want attention on the situation in Gaza and the illegal blockade, why we are more certain than ever to realize the voyage to Gaza.
We expect that the Norwegian authorities take away from these sabotage actions that come from Israel and others. On our departure from the airport we said a press release that Israel must respect international law and international obligations. After what has happened, there is every reason to intensify our call.
Our goal is to break Israel’s blockade. It is a collective punishment of an entire people and is a violation of international law and human rights. Blockade leads to a lack of goods and services that can lead to reconstruction and development in Gaza. Gaza’s population must have his freedom and opportunity to create their own future. We will continue the struggle to get the blockade lifted, and more ships will sail to Gaza until the blockade is lifted.
