This quote and the analysis of revisionism it communicates is of great importance today. Revisionism is often dismissed as a violation of a religious dogma, i.e. “anything my opponent disagrees with is revisionism,” mischaracterized as something within the bounds of the scientific elasticity of the application of Marxism, i.e. “Lenin revised Marx, does that make him a revisionist,” or otherwise something primarily intellectual, historical, semantic, insignificant or immaterial. All these approachs are incorrect. Revisionism must be understood in terms of the class struggle. It is by means of revisionism that the bourgeoisie robs the working class of its revolutionary Party.
– E.S.
“Revisionism—revision of Marxism—is today one of the chief manifestations, if not the chief, of bourgeois influence on the proletariat and bourgeois corruption of the workers. That is why Eduard Bernstein, the opportunist leader, has won such world-wide notoriety.”
– V.I. Lenin, “A Fool’s Haste Is No Speed”
